Dennis Cleveland Stewart was an American actor and stuntman best known for his roles as antagonists in several popular films of the 1970s and 1980s. He was born on July 29, 1947, in Los Angeles, California, and died on April 25, 1994, at the age of 46.
His most famous role was as Leo "Craterface" Balmudo, the leader of the Scorpions, in the musical film Grease (1978). His menacing presence and memorable lines made him a standout character despite his limited screen time. He reprised a similar type of role in The Warriors (1979) as one of the leaders of the Lizzies gang.
Stewart also appeared in films such as Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1978) and Escape from New York (1981). Beyond acting, he also worked as a stuntman in various productions.
His imposing physical stature and ability to portray tough, intimidating characters led to his typecasting in villainous roles. While he didn't achieve widespread fame, he is remembered for his contributions to cult classic films.
He passed away due to complications from AIDS.
